Over the years, including my time as a Production Technician at Nutek Disposables (First Quality), I’ve built strong experience in machine operation, safety procedures, and teamwork.

Contributions to Northwoods Gift Shop's Business Turnaround:

I joined Northwoods Gift Shop in 2017 during a critical transition period, as the store shifted from a year-round operation to a seasonal model, resulting in decreased customer traffic. Working closely with the store owner, I helped identify and implement several strategic improvements, with a primary focus on revitalizing the store’s online presence.

Website Modernization:

One of our main initiatives was to completely overhaul the store’s website. Our goal was to create a modern, user-friendly experience that would appeal to both new and returning customers. After evaluating content management systems such as WordPress, Drupal, and Joomla, we selected Joomla for its security features and flexibility, which aligned well with the shop’s evolving needs.

Design and Aesthetic Considerations:

We designed the website to reflect the warm, welcoming atmosphere of our family-run store. Drawing on previous marketing materials and customer feedback, we ensured that the site captured the character and values of our business.

Interactive Chatbot System and Backend Automation:

To improve customer service and reduce response time, I developed and integrated a rule-based chatbot system connected to our Facebook page. This system used custom-built logic and backend APIs to handle common customer inquiries.

The chatbot could automatically determine whether the store was open or closed based on the time of day and our operating hours. It also provided quick access to important information such as directions to the store, general store details, and how to contact us. Additionally, we created a form-based system that allowed vendors to submit their information, which was reviewed and responded to by our team within 48 hours.

Expanded Content and Customer Resources:

We also added detailed sections to the site to highlight additional services and attractions, such as the mini-golf course and gem mining activities. This comprehensive approach helped customers better understand the full range of experiences we offered.

Outcome:

Through these efforts, we successfully transformed Northwoods Gift Shop’s digital presence into a more engaging and informative platform. This played a key role in attracting new visitors and reconnecting with our seasonal customer base, ultimately contributing to a positive turnaround for the business.
